The promotion of reading for pleasure is central to much of the work Bolton Libraries undertakes throughout the year.
One off events and regular reading group activities cater for all ages from toddlers to the retired in all 15 static service points and we attempt to make activities inclusive for all. National reading promotions are supported by stock purchase, author events & displays and supplemented by innovative local promotions such as Reading Makeovers. External Reading Groups are catered for by a collection of sets which can be borrowed for free.
Bolton's Central Library and Horwich Library were redesigned in 2005 by Opening the Book to encourage greater browsing and face on display of stock. All new staff receive Reader Development training in the Induction and Library Managers and Team Librarians have begun the Frontline online training.
