Manchester Libraries and Theatres Department organise a range of events and activities to encourage readers to use libraries. Book displays and promotions across the city offer a tempting range of stock. We take part in national promotions such as World Book Day and National Poetry Day. Local activities which help promote reading include the annual Festival of Manchester Writing and Manchester Poetry Festival.
A range of ongoing events also take place including a regular programme of readings and visiting writers in Central Library. Three general reading groups currently offer an opportunity for some keen readers to share their views. There is also an active poetry reading group, and a play reading group organised by the Library Theatre.
