Reader and audience development in Tameside Libraries

Tameside MBC has 13 libraries, 4 library access points and a Home Library Service. We aim to encourage the enjoyment of reading and learning by organising a series of varied activities for all ages throughout the year and supporting local, regional and national book promotions and festivals.
In addition to weekly Bookstart rhyme times at all our libraries and activities for children and their families we organise a programme of workshops to support Adult Learners Week as well as regular events such as author talks, quizzes and poetry evenings.
The number of readers groups we support is increasing; there are various groups meeting in our libraries including two Manga readers groups, a group for visually impaired readers and a crime readers group. We also have 6 Book Time For Yourself groups aimed at over 55's based on the Get into Reading model.
