Read the North West region

A database of books with a North West link can now be found on the Read page.

Regular visitors to this site will find a new addition this month. A database of books with a North West link can now be found on the Read page - the first page you see when you log on.

To improve the value of the site for readers as well as library staff, Time To Read has been collecting information about books that strongly feature the North West. For the time being, the database will not include local history or older classic titles, but will try to list as many titles as possible that reflect the North West region as it is now. Many of these titles will be by writers who are living and working in the region, so complements the author information you can find under Write.

In some instances we have included titles by writers who are strongly identified with the region, even though their book may not in fact be wholly set in the region. This is particularly true of those featured in the poetry section. Very few poets have collections which are purely geographically based, though many include individual poems that have been inspired by locations in the region. Time To Read wants to reflect the number and quality of poets who are working in the North West region by including them in our database.

It is hoped that you will feel inspired to read many of the titles that are listed here. Many of the authors included have other publications to their name but at this stage we have only room for one per author. We hope to keep the database up-to-date by adding new titles as they are published.

Please contact your local library service if you wish to borrow any of the titles listed; they may not be instantly available but your library should be able to obtain it for you. If you are aware of titles which you feel should be included in this list, please contact the Time To Read co-ordinator at the address below.
