Crime Writers at Crosby

Sefton's library service caused murder at Crosby Civic Hall on Wednesday 13th June - as three award-winning authors appeared 'in conversation' to discuss their work with a lively audience of crime writing fans.

A popular writer with Sefton's library users, Val McDermid has written many best-selling novels. They include THE WIRE IN THE BLOOD, which has been adapted into a television drama featuring Robson Green. Stuart MacBride is a Scottish author with three gritty 'Tartan Noir' novels published - COLD GRANITE, DYING LIGHT and BROKEN SKIN. Michael Marshall has written four US-based thrillers, which he is adapting himself for the BBC. He has also written three award-winning fantasy novels under the name Michael Marshall Smith.

Laced with some macabre but darkly funny anecdotes, the authors revealed their writing processes and how they research into the grim realities of crime. They then fielded questions from the audience, and there was an opportunity for people to purchase books and have their copies signed - a great souvenir from a compelling and enjoyable event.

It all made for a thrilling literary evening, organised in association with HarperCollins Publishers and Pritchards Bookshops as one the first events in the Sefton Celebrates Writing programme for Express Sefton! 08.
