BLACKPOOL
Blackpool Central Library re-opened to the public on 26th September 2011 after being closed for 13 months while a major re-development took place.

During this time the library was transformed. The lending library has been opened up so that it is bright and airy and on walking into the building, customers can see immediately where they need to go. There is a welcome desk - strategically placed close to the new self issue terminals - so if people need help when they come in, it is at hand immediately. There is a new ramp from the front doors to allow people with buggies, prams or wheelchairs to access the building easily. A "Reading Lounge", public toilets and a cafˇ are all welcome additions, as are the lovely community rooms. These make larger and different events possible such as the Tea Dance that was held during "Wordpool". This was very popular and will become a regular event for people of all ages.

We also had young dancers attend a workshop during the festival and they put their learning into practice by performing "Dancing with Words" in the library.
