News from library authorities:
Liverpool
Orange Prize night
This was held on Wednesday, 08 June, at The Bluecoat in central Liverpool

On the night the Orange Prize was announced, Liverpool Libraries' staff and local book group members joined together to hear readings from the short-listed books, took part in a light-hearted literary quiz, entered free prize draws, and cast their votes for Liverpool's winner.
70 people attended, mainly from Liverpool reading groups, but also from across Merseyside. While Tea Obreht won the national prize, for "The Tiger's Wife", Liverpool's choice was "Room" by Emma Donoghue, with Nicole Krauss' "Great House" and then "Annabel" by Kathleen Winter, close behind.
Our feedback showed that the greatest numbers described the event as enjoyable, informative and interesting. Our audience also came up with more than 50 suggestions of books for group reads.
This was the seventh year we have held this event, and, this collaboration with the Bluecoat made it the most successful so far.
