Regency Pleasures and Pastimes
Manchester Central Library held a Regency Romance event in June. Historical writers Melinda Hammond and Nicola Cornick spoke about writing the regency romance, and Jay Dixon, freelance editor gave a talk on Georgetter Heyer. An audience of around 50 people also enjoyed regency music, needlework demonstrations by the Embroiderer's Guild, lemonade and cakes. Children enjoyed making regency dolls and fans. Book displays promoting regency fiction, biography and non-fiction were very popular.
An Orange Prize evening at Chorlton Library celebrated ten years of Chorlton Reading Group and other members of the public joined in a lively debate about the shortlist followed by a vote for who would win and who should win!
