RFID technology comes to Manchester Libraries
Manchester stock librarians have been getting to grips with using iTag shelf reader technology to undertake full audits of libraries across the city.
All stock has been RFID tagged and the audit will enable us to then use SmartSM technology to ensure the best use of stock, in terms of meeting communities' requirements in specific libraries.
E-Books
These continue to thrive, with an average of 1,000 issues per month. Issues to date in 2011 already outnumber issues in the last half of 2010 when we launched the service. Current most popular titles include books by John le Carre, Dawn French, Carol Birch, Lee Child, Mills & Boon romances, and in non fiction, 30 Minute Supper, Stephen Fry, Michael MacIntyre. The range of readersŐ interests continues to surprise us!
Six Book Challenge
Our partnership with Community Adult Education to deliver the 6BC will be celebrated in July with an all day event hosted by writer Jeff Pearce at which learners will be awarded their certificates. The event will also be an opportunity to promote the Summer Reading Challenge.
