As part of the National Library Day celebrations, Sefton Library Service welcomed TV presenter, author and canal boat owner Nigel Jay, who spoke at Ainsdale Library. The library was packed with people waiting to hear Nigel's tales of presenting BBC local news, and they were not disappointed.

Nigel spoke about the trials and tribulations of working in a busy newsroom as well as being out in the community, the challenges of getting to the newsroom on time, and the problems of presenting the news while trying to fix your broken chair. He had the crowd laughing out loud!

After the coffee break Nigel got on to more serious issues; he spoke about his writing career and read a passage from one of the three books he is currently writing. The morning finished with tales of canal life, which can be much more hazardous than you would believe!

Nigel left the crowd wanting more, we would certainly welcome him back anytime!
