Which Magazine?
Aim
To find out which magazines young women like to read
Method
Have a large selection of magazines. Working in a large group, make a list of what makes a good magazine e.g. quizzes, star signs, problem pages, fashion. Also make a list of what subjects they like to read about e.g. health, relationships, parenting. Each young person chooses a magazine from the selection and checks to see if it covers all items on the list and scores accordingly. Feedback to larger group.
Time
Allow at least an hour
Discussion points:
- Which magazine was the best?
- Which magazine was the worst?
- Is price a consideration?
- Do you buy magazines yourself?
- Do you think magazines should be in the library?
