Introduction
A Reader Development Strategy for public libraries in the North West Region 2008-2011
This document is the renewed reader development strategy for the NW region, from October 2008 to Sept 2011. This overarching strategy aims to act as a framework for local reader development activity, as well as demonstrating how TTR fits with priority national reading agendas. National Year of Reading 2008 has encouraged a large number of new readers to join or re-join their local library. It is essential that those new readers become regular library users. The actions presented in this strategy are intended to build on the opportunities and the momentum generated by the National Year of Reading, as well as the enthusiasm already present in the region's reader development practitioners, and will ensure that the NW region remains at the forefront of Reader Development activity in the UK.
