Readers' Groups Made Simple
How to choose what to read next
- Library decides for you from a list of stock available
- Library provides a list of sets available to be chosen from by the group
- Members take it in turns to suggest titles
- Members suggest titles which are discussed or voted on collectively
Most readers groups use some or all of the following to inform their book choices.
- Newspaper reviews and lists
- TV & Radio promotions e.g. BBC Radio 4 Open Book and A Good Read. Formerly Richard & Judy, now replaced with new book club programme
- Past or present prize-winners
- Classics everyone has heard of and may want to re-read
- NewBooks Magazine Specifically for readers and reading groups. Publisher is happy to send any new reading group a "starter" pack.
