Readers' Groups Made Simple
Different models of groups
- Everyone reads the same book for the meeting
- Everyone reads any title by a chosen author
- Everyone reads one of 2 books by a chosen author, for comparison
- Everyone reads a book on a theme. Lists could be provided
- People talk about any book they have read recently and want to recommend
- A book/poem/story is read aloud at meetings and discussed. (NB these groups will need to meet very regularly, if reading novels or plays, so that interest is maintained)
Librarians in the North West have pioneered partnership working to encourage new readers into libraries. Time To Read is a partnership of librarians engaged in reader development activity in public library authorities in the North West Region. All 23 public library authorities in the region currently support Time To Read.
