Working With Writers Toolkit
Evaluation
It is important to try to evaluate the impact of promotional activity. The Here & Now promotion provided lots of opportunity for both quantitative and qualitative evaluation. Below are the sorts of information we attempted to gather.
Quantitative:
- Quantity of promotional materials produced and where they were used.
- Number of promotional displays in libraries
- Numbers of books bought to support displays and activities
- Issues of books from promotions ( hard to gather across a number of authorities)
- Number of activities generated
- Audience statistics
- Media coverage
- Sales of books at events
- Numbers of new writers contacted
- Range of new activities held
- New library venues used
Qualitative:
- Feedback from audiences at events
- Feedback from writers taking part in events and networking days
- Feedback from library staff at networking days
- Feedback from staff on quality of materials and booklist
Ideally would also aim to gather
- Feedback from publishers
- Feedback from bookshops selling books at events
