Anna Dean

BIOGRAPHY
Novelist and short story writer. I was born in Cumbria and have lived in the South Lakes for the last 25 years. I've published an historical novel under my 'real' name, Marian Veevers and, as Anna Dean, I am now working on a series of 'cosy' historical crime novels set in the time and social milieu of Jane Austen – they began to be published in Britian in 2008 and will start appearing in the U.S. in 2010. I have also written short stories and monologues for radio.
I have worked as Writer in Residence for the Cumbria Archive Service and I am particularly interested in the use of archive material as a source of creative inspiration. I have given presentations and led numerous workshops on this subject and I have also taught creative writing to a variety of groups.
I work part time for the Wordsworth Trust.
