Formerly Principal Inspector of Schools for the City Of Manchester, Head of the Manchester School Improvement Service, and Lead Network Facilitator of the National College of School Leadership, I am currently a Fellow and judge of the Teaching Awards. For four years I was also a programme consultant and panellist on the popular live GranadaTelevision programme Which Way, presented by the iconic, and much missed, Tony Wilson. In the past three years I have written six crime thriller novels – all of them based inand around the City of Manchester. My first novel The Cleansing was short listed for the Long Barn Books Debut Novel competition, which led to a London Agency offering to take me on. My fourth - A Trace of Blood - reached the semi-final of the 2009 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award. In additon to writing novels I have also started my own publishing house: Caton Books.
