Barbara Nadel
BIOGRAPHY
Barbara is a Londoner, now based in the North West. She writes two crime fiction series, one set in Istanbul, Turkey featuring her series detective, Inspector Ikmen and another, historical series, set in London in World War 2. Before becoming a full time writer, Barbara worked with people with mental health problems, she also taught her degree subject, psychology, to students studying at A level. In 2005 Barbara won the Crime Writers Association Silver Dagger for her 7th Inspector Ikmen book 'Deadly Web'.

Barbara has also written articles about Turkey and Turkish culture for 'The Times', 'The Guardian', 'The Independent', 'Time Out' as well as short stories for Ellery Queen Magazine. Radio work includes Radio 4's 'Excess Baggage', Essex Radio, BBC London, radio broadcasts via stations in Cape Town and Johannesburg.

Barbara has given readings and talks at events as diverse as Harrogate Crime Fiction Festival, Left Coast Crime (USA), Bouchercon (Canada), the Essex Book Festival, Guildford Festival, Redbrige Festival plus libraries in London, Essex, Manchester and Lancashire. She has undertaken book tours of Germany, Switzerland and South Africa. She originally trained as an actress and has a PGCE so she is a practiced and accomplished speaker.
