Budding authors awarded in Knowsley
The winners of the annual Knowsley Writing Competition 2013 were announced at a special celebration event in Kirkby Library on World Book Night.
There were over three hundred entries, making the task for the judges a really difficult one.
The theme for adult entries was ‘The Letter I Wish I’d Written’, while under 13s and under 8s were invited to submit an illustrated story or poem.
The winner and runners-up in each category were presented by Cllr Eddie Connor, Cabinet Member for Leisure, Community and Culture with a book voucher and a trophy to keep. Each of the three winners also had their name engraved on a trophy which will be on display in the library.
As part of World Book Night, all those attending the celebration event received a book which they were encouraged to pass on or swap after they’d finished reading it.
The Knowsley Writing Competition happens every year as part of a range of creative activities on offer across the borough’s five libraries.
The 2014 competition will be launched in October and the Library Service would like to hear from anyone who has a good idea for this year’s theme.
