Andrew Flintoff was born in 1977 in Preston, Lancashire, where he lived until he was 21. At the age of 16 he won a three-year county contract with Lancashire, then followed an England Under-19 trip to the West Indies. At the age of 20, he was picked for his Test debut against South Africa. His career really took off on a tour of India in 2001, when he opened the batting, and his maiden Test hundred came against New Zealand the following March
