More Scouse Vicar

Billy Forshaw

This moving story charts the life of one family in Liverpool. Emily is a young mother, with two young daughters, whose husband Jimmy is in the navy, pursuing U-boats far out in the Atlantic Ocean. She takes on some cleaning at the local vicarage, but the long-standing housekeeper s retirement unexpectedly catapults her into filling this responsible position. Moments of tragedy and treasured moments of happiness are used to reveal a strong community. As the war draws to a close, much in Emily s life has changed, yet she still nurtures a desire to emigrate to Canada and to begin a new life ... Although this story is fictional, Billy Forshaw has drawn on many historical sources, national as well as local, including eyewitness accounts, to ensure accuracy in his portrayal of the wartime atmosphere.
