I was born near Manchester and still live there - it features in many of my books. I wanted to write from the age of seven. My first book (for adults) was about growing up on a council estate in Greater Manchester. My first books for children featured Frank the hamster, who lives in a cage in a terraced house somewhere near Oldham, but has dreams of Syria and freedom...

Time To Read is a partnership of librarians engaged in reader development activity in public library authorities in the North West Region. 22 public library authorities in the region currently support Time To Read.
